In Cinematic Voices, pianist Daniel Verstappen joins violist Marina Barskaya and the Bulgarian choir Bulgapeya for a concert that moves seamlessly between cinematic film music and ancient vocal traditions.

This is not a traditional classical concert, but a continuous musical narrative in which piano, viola and voices merge into a single immersive sound world — intense, layered and emotionally charged.

The programme builds on the acclaimed collaboration during last Christmas period, presented at La Monnaie, featuring music by iconic composers such as Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer and Karl Jenkins, interwoven with traditional Bulgarian vocal music.

Over the past years, this ensemble has built a strong artistic trajectory together, with performances at AMUZ Antwerp, Handelsbeurs Ghent, La Monnaie & Bourse Brussel, as well as the City hall Brussel on the occasion of Bulgaria’s National Day in 2024.

This concert reflects that journey: a refined afternoon performance, shaped by experience, trust and a shared musical language between East and West. Rather than separate pieces, the concert unfolds as one flowing story — cinematic, intense and deeply human.

Pianist and composer Daniel Verstappen is known for connecting generations and cultures through music, blending piano with modern soundscapes, orchestral influences and voice. He has shared the stage with international artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Ennio Morricone.

With his Reconnection World Tour, Verstappen has performed in world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House, bringing his music to audiences across Europe, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand. This year, the tour continues through Japan and South Korea.

In Cinematic Voices bundelen pianist Daniel Verstappen, altvioliste Marina Barskaya en het Bulgaarse koor Bulgapeya hun krachten in een programma dat balanceert tussen cinematische filmmuziek en eeuwenoude vocale tradities.

Dit is geen traditioneel klassiek concert, maar een doorlopend muzikaal verhaal waarin piano, altviool en zang samensmelten tot één intense, gelaagde en emotioneel geladen luisterervaring.

Het programma bouwt verder op de succesvolle samenwerking die eerder te horen was in De munt in Brussel, met muziek van iconische componisten zoals Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer en Karl Jenkins, verweven met traditionele Bulgaarse gezangen.

De voorbije jaren bouwde dit ensemble een sterk artistiek parcours uit, met concerten in AMUZ, Handelsbeurs, De Munt en De Beurs in Brussel, evenals in het Stadhuis Brussel naar aanleiding van de Bulgaarse nationale feestdag in 2024.
